|Match Report by Simple Jim on CG forums.
Kasbah Demo (DOP pick Mercs)
All ten rounds were very much like the First World War... a lot of fierce action early on before settling into a long stalemate with a great amount of explosives being thrown around. The final minute of each round was invariably madness. DOP only managed one win as Mercs but wiped MuT out a second time while SEALs... MuT managed two wins in the last three rounds through bomb plants but, while it could have been anyone's game on overall kills if the game had run smoothly, DOP took the win as Simple Jim's kills were voided by a game freeze. But nobody really cared because it was the first time I've ever seen Kasbah produce a good contest. DOP won 2-2, the MVP was [MuT]Laggy Sponge.
Crossroads Escort (MuT pick Mercs)
MuT held the area around their spawn and occassionally had men hanging around very close to the extractions. DOP almost managed to extract the VIPS once or twice but couldn't quite overcome several fine performances by individual MuTs. It was 5-0 by the time the teams were swapped but it looked very much like MuT were in for the same gruesome business that DOP had endured, losing three rounds in a row including one where a sniper brazenly eliminated the VIPs from the belltower. However it would only take one big effort from MuT to take the map and thats just what happened in the ninth round as DOP were annihilated.MuT won 6-3, the MVP was [MuT]HumanAfterAll.
Crossroads Elimination (MuT pick Mercs)
The first few rounds were pretty identical to the sort of stuff seen in the earlier Escort game except this time the rounds were ending in draws when the time ran out. It was one each when the teams swapped. MuT took a severe beating immediately upon becoming SEALs but soon stabilised the situation (MuT generally divided the team into three little self-contained groups which held tiny areas/ghettos of the map) with a draw followed by a win to make it 2-2 with 2 rounds left.
Both of these rounds were draws but were massively important due to the kill scores- there was one kill in it at the start of round nine and still one kill in it at the end of the game. However, MuT reversed the deficit with a hard-fought catch of 4 kills before Simple Jim escaped from the massacre that was the last round to hide in the enemy's spawn, denying them the win and also the kill that they needed to even the scores. It was edge-of-the-seat, hope you don't piss yourself kind of stuff. MuT won 2-2, the MVP was [MuT]Simple Jim.
MuT won 2-1 in the end.
That match was a superb way to spend three and a quarter hours. My commiserations to DOP, who were awesome fellows throughout. I'd recommend a match against them to anyone and would definately like another match in the near future.
